Fall 2017 Swim Team Training

Kingfish Mission:

The Kingfish Swimming program is dedicated to providing opportunity and encouragement for all of its swimmers to make an uncompromised commitment to the pursuit of excellence and, through the process of striving to be the best they can be, to acquire life enhancing attributes such as integrity, discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Kingfish Objective:

The Kingfish objective is to promote the sport of competitive swimming through positive motivation and the teaching of sound stroke mechanics in an atmosphere of high moral and ethical standards, encouraging sportsmanship and personal growth at all levels. We provide correct, consistent instruction in all areas of stroke competency for freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. We establish a progression for endurance training at all levels. We provide instruction in nutrition. We set ethical and moral standards among swimmers. We provide and organize team and group activities. We develop a keen sense of sportsmanship in our athlete

 

The team is coached by UMD Assistant Swim Coach Owen Worden. Training will take place at the UMass Dartmouth pool located in the Tripp Athletic Center.

Recommended for swimmers 7 & up who are able to demonstrate all four competitive strokes legally.

YOUTH SWIMMING LESSONS

There will be no swimming lessons offered for Fall 2017.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. 

We will be offering lessons for Spring 2018! Please check back in February for registration information!

 Members of the UMass Dartmouth Swimming Team offer comprehensive youth swim lessons  for youth ages 5 and older ranging in ability from beginner to competitive swimmers.

MASTERS SWIMMING PROGRAM

UMASS Dartmouth Aquatics offers an adult swimming program for adults ages 21 and older.  The program is designed to provide instructional and structured workouts for swimmers of all abilities including the recreational swimmer, triathlete and seasoned competitive swimmer.  Please note, this is NOT a lesson program.  Practice sessions are currently being held on Monday evenings from 6-7pm ;Wednesday afternoons from Noon-1:00pm and Friday mornings from 6:00-7:30am.  There are registration fees associated with practice sessions.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING AND RECERTIFICATION CLASSES

 

UMass Dartmouth Aquatics would like to announce that it will be offering a Lifeguard Training Program this spring to be held at the Tripp Athletic Center.

The program will consist of American Red Cross Training in the areas of:

Lifeguarding; First Aid, CPR for the Professional Lifeguard and Automated External Defibrillation (AED). 

Class hours will be held in the Tripp Athletic Center with classroom time in the Hall of Fame Room.  Classes will be held on Sundays from 9am-1pm.  All participants must be 15 years of age prior to March 26th, 2017 and must pass precourse swim test on 3/26 in order to continue to attend class.

Registration will be held on Sunday, March 26th, 2017 at 9am with first class to follow.

Class size limited to 10 persons on a first come, first serve basis.

Recertification classes will be offered on 4/9 & 4/23 from 1-5pm.

March 26th             April 2nd

April 9th                April 23rd

April 30th    

              

Makeup:  May 7th, if needed

Course participants must attend all sessions in order to pass course.

Course Fees:

UMass Dartmouth Student:   $150.00

Non-UMass Dartmouth Student:   $200.00

CPR/AED Recertification:  $50.00

LGT/CPR/AED Recertfication:  $100.00
