YOUTH SWIMMING LESSONS
We are pleased to announce that our Spring 2019 Swimming Instruction is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 19th, 2019!
Members of the UMass Dartmouth Swimming Team offer comprehensive youth swim lessons for youth ages 5 and older ranging in ability from beginner to competitive swimmers.
Dates: Tueday, March 19th- Thursday, April 18th, 2019
The Lesson Schedule:
Tuesday- Thursday: 5:30-6:15PM and 6:00-6:45pm
Pre Swim Team*(Must be able to swim 25yds nonstop)
Tuesday and Thursday: 5:30-6:45pm

MASTERS SWIMMING PROGRAM
UMASS Dartmouth Aquatics offers an adult swimming program for adults ages 21 and older. The program is designed to provide instructional and structured workouts for swimmers of all abilities including the recreational swimmer, triathlete and seasoned competitive swimmer. Please note, this is NOT a lesson program. Practice sessions are currently being held on Monday evenings from 6-7pm ;Wednesday afternoons from Noon-1:00pm and Friday mornings from 6:00-7:30am. There are registration fees associated with practice sessions.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING AND RECERTIFICATION CLASSES
UMass Dartmouth will be offering the American Red Cross Certification Course this Spring for UMass Dartmouth students, staff, affiliates and community members.
The program will consist of American Red Cross Training in the areas of:
Lifeguarding; First Aid, CPR for the Professional Lifeguard and Automated External Defibrillation (AED)
Waterpark and Waterfront Certification (Optional)
Class hours will be held in the Tripp Athletic Center with classroom time in the Hall of Fame Room.
Classes will be held on Wednesday from 6:00-8:30pm and Sunday from 9am-Noon.
PRE-COURSE SWIM TEST: All participants must pass the Pre-Course Swim Test being held on Thursday, March 28th from 7-8pm to enroll in the course. The test consists of the following requirements:
- Swim 300 yards (12 laps) or 500 yards (20 laps) continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim performing the front crawl, breasstroke or a combination of both. Swimming on the back is not allowed.
- Tread water for 2 minutes using only legs. Hands shall be placed under armpits.
- Diving brick retrieval from a depth of 13 feet.
All participants must be 15 years of age prior to March 28th, 2019.
Attendance on swim test date is required.
Class size limited to 6-8 persons on a first come, first serve basis.
Wednesday: April 3rd, April 10th, April 17th, April 24th, May 1st
Sunday: April 7th, April 14th, April 28th, May 5th
Course participants are allowed to miss one class only. Multiple missed classes will jeopardize the participants ability to meet the requirements for passing the course. Please note dates if you are planning school vacation or participate in high school sports.
Course Materials: Participants will be provided with a lifeguard manual and pocket mask via the American Red Cross. Participants should be prepared to swim each class session. Manuals and pocket masks will be required for each class.
UMass Dartmouth Student: $150.00
Non-UMass Dartmouth Student: $200.00
Additional $50 for Waterpark or Waterfront Certification
LGT/CPR/AED Recertification: $100.00
CPR/AED Recertfication: $50.00
