UMass Dartmouth Athletic Department - Compliance Issues The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Athletic Department is an NCAA Division III sanctioned department and falls under the jurisdiction of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Student-athletes who participate in varsity athletics at UMass Dartmouth are subject to all NCAA rules and regulations regarding eligibility. They participate in their respective sports under all NCAA regulations which govern that sport. Student-athletes are also subject to university regulations regarding eligibility to participate in extra curricular activities. Within the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Department, all compliance matters are handled by the Compliance Officer Robert Dowd. The Compliance Officer works closely with the Athletic Director, the Faculty Athletics representative and other campus officials to guarantee that all appropriate NCAA and university rules and regulations are being followed by the Athletic Department and the student-athletes participating in the department's varsity sports programs.
