Mr. Jerry Jennings
Mr. Jennings is a native of Rhode Island and has degrees from The Universities of Maryland and West Virginia. He Joined the UMD Athletics staff in 1987.
During this time he has had various jobs that ranged from Head Diving Coach to Head Women's Lacrosse Coach. He was also Head Coach of Swimming. During his time as Head Diving Coach Mr. Jennings was a six-time winner of the Charles Batterman award as New England Intercollegiate Diving Coach of the year. Even more honorable and impressive, he was named the NCAA Diving Coach of the Year in 1992. For his efforts in coaching many years of swimming and diving Mr. Jennings was the 2004 recipient of the South Coast Aquatics "Coaching Legend Award". He holds the rare distinction of developing All America Athletes in Men's and Women's Swimming, Diving, and Lacrosse, as well as NCAA Champions at two institutions. In 1989 he was inducted into the Rhode Island Aquatics Hall of Fame for honors received as an All America athlete, Coach, and NCAA Championships administrator. In 2004 he was inducted into the Cranston, Rhode Island Hall of Fame as a member of the undefeated and New England Championship Team.
Today he is still the Head Coach of Women's Lacrosse, which is a fairly new position for him. But he is also the Director of Intramural Sports and Activities. As Intramural Director here at UMass Dartmouth, Mr. Jennings has brought a wealth of experience to the position. He successfully raised interest and motivated significant increases in participation of students, faculty and staff in the UMD Intramurals program. Currently over 3,000 students enjoy the variety of programs on the UMass Dartmouth campus.
