(Dartmouth, MA) – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Corsair Hall of Fame will be celebrating its 25th anniversary this September and is seeking nominations for its Class of 2012. The annual UMass Dartmouth Corsair Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held Friday, September 21, 2012 as part of homecoming weekend activities.
Any former varsity intercollegiate athlete, who participated in at least two varsity seasons and graduated from UMass Dartmouth or any of its predecessor institutions, including Southeastern Massachusetts University, Southeastern Massachusetts Technological Institute, New Bedford Institute of Technology or Bradford Durfee Institute of Technology in Fall River, is eligible for nomination.
A second category for individuals who have performed outstanding service to UMass Dartmouth can include successful members of the coaching staff (a minimum of 3 years after leaving UMass Dartmouth), administrative staff, members of the local media, supporters, sponsors and volunteers.
Nomination forms are available at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Department located in the Tripp Athletic Center by calling (508) 910-6930 of by emailing Jim Mullins at email@example.com. Nomination forms for review this year will be accepted until July 1, 2012. Nominations from this year and those still eligible from previous years will be reviewed by the Corsair Hall of Fame Committee with selections to take place in July.
Permanently housed in the Tripp Center Lobby on the UMass Dartmouth campus, the Corsair Hall of Fame held its grand opening ceremony earlier this year. In addition to a collection of trophies and awards, the Corsair Hall of Fame is interested in obtaining any type of information or memorabilia about the history of its former athletic teams. Of special interest are photographs, records and items relating to athletic teams at New Bedford Institute of Technology and Bradford Durfee Institute of Technology in Fall River.
