NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Acrobatics & Tumbling Program will be hosting several clinics to educate people on the new sport of acrobatics & tumbling,.
UMD Head Coach John Gilbert will conduct the clinics, which will be held at the Tripp Athletic Center on the UMD campus.
The clinics will include an introduction to the sport of acrobatics & tumbling and the "meet" format used for competition, instruction in tumbling and stunting techniques; important aspects of training in plyometrics; core strength, drills and skills; and what it means to be part of the National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association.
The clinics are free, and are open to all student-athletes in their junior or senior years of high school, as well as high school graduates and current college students.
The first clinic is set for this Thursday, February 23rd, from 7-9 p.m. Clinics are also scheduled on Saturday, March 4th, from 4-6 p.m. and on Saturday, April 14th, from 4-6 p.m.
