Equestrian Earns Reserve High Point Honors at RWU

PORTSMOUTH, RI-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's equestrian team earned reserve high point honors at last weekend's show, hosted by Roger Williams at Glenn Farm.
Freshman Emily White (Westport, MA/Westport HS) earned two second place ribbons in open classes. In the intermediate division, Kerin Devine had a positive ride. In the novice jumping classes, Melissa Feld placed first, Chelsea O'Brien was second and Sarah Whitman finished fifth. In the novice flat classes Chelsea O'Brien and Kerin Devine placed third and junior Katherine Donahue finished 6th, In the walk, trot, canter division, senior Lindsey Champa earned a second place ribbon. The finish earned her a total of 35 points in her division, which qualified her for the regional competition held in May. Senior Katelyn Piela finished seventh in her walk, trot, canter class on a difficult horse, while freshmen Hayley Paige and Bridget Hammond finished fourth. In walk trot, Michaela Frontiero and Khayla England had second and third place finishes respectively.
"I am very proud of the way the team performed, everything is really coming together," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Meredith Arden. The Corsairs return to action Saturday at Johnson and Wales
