HOLYOKE, Mass. – Three members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth equestrian team competed at the Zone 1 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Final on the campus of Mount Holyoke College this past weekend.
Freshman Sarah Kieran (Plympton, Mass.) competed in both the Individual Open Flat and Fences competitions. In the Fences portion, she took fourth place after receiving a call back to complete additional testing. In Open Flat, the freshman finished in second place and was named Reserve Champion. Kieran also competed in a two part practice for the Cachione Cup, which she was named Champion in for her performances in the Open Flat and Fences competitions.
Also competing in the Zone 1 Finals were sophomore Colleen Waclawik (Millis, Mass.) and freshman Kira Hallberg (Foxboro, Mass.). In Individual Walk Trot Canter, Waclawik took home seventh place, while Hallberg placed sixth in the Individual Walk Trot.
Kieran remains the only Corsair competing in the 2014 season. She will travel to Nationals in Harrisburg, Pa. on May 1-4 to compete in the Cachione Cup and Individual Open Flat at the Pennsylvania Horse Show Complex.
