PAXTON, Mass. – UMass Dartmouth Equestrian claimed a fourth-place finish last weekend, finishing just one point shy of third place at Becker College's IHSA show.
How it Happened
After qualifying for IHSA Regionals last weekend at Brown University's show, senior captain Jillian Ruyffelaert (Northampton, Mass.) placed second in her first intermediate flat class. Sophomore Olivia van der Meer (Medway, Mass.) continued her strong fall season, placing first in her open over fences class and third in her open flat class. Senior Natasha Zuzarte (Tiverton, R.I.) took fifth in her open flat class and sixth in her open over fences class.
Juniors Michaela Kessel (Haverhill, Mass.) and Anna von Einem (Caracas, Venezuela) both placed in their intermediate over fences classes. Kessel finished second, while von Einem took fifth. Kessel also competed in a novice flat class and placed sixth.
Sophomore Morgan Tanner (Rehoboth, Mass.) placed fourth in her novice over fences class, and senior Kira Hallberg (Foxboro, Mass.) finished second in her novice flat class. Ava Gatsoulis (Boston, Mass.) was the last of the team to place, collecting third in her beginner walk trot canter.
UMass Dartmouth's annual home show is slated for Saturday, as the Corsairs and Rhode Island College will co-host this weekend's IHSA show at Claddagh Farm in Tiverton, R.I.
