Sailing 14th at Southern Series IV Regatta

NEWPORT, RI-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's sailing team finished 14th of 15 teams at the Southern Series Four Regatta, hosted by Salve Regina Saturday.

The Corsairs finished with 213 points, scoring 100 points in Division A races and 113 points in Division B races. Tufts was first overall with 40 points.

"I tried to give all of our sailors competitive experience by switching them from boat to boat," said Umass Dartmouth Head Coach Jerry Jennings. "I used our experienced skippers, (senior) Kate Motta (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) and (junior) Michelle Guidotti (Hartford, CT/Conard HS),.and rotated everyione else to give them competitive experience, and they acquitted themselves very well. Today, our goal was to become more competitive, and it worked. Everyone sailed very well, and they all competed at a very high level, given their experience. I'm pleased with our progress as we continue to grow."

The Corsairs will return to action when they travel to MIT on Sunday.
