NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Junior catcher Matt Worden (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) will spend the rest of his summer playing in one of the most prestigious collegiate baseball leagues in the country.
Worden has joined the New Bedford Bay Sox of the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
The only Corsair to start and appear in all 37 games this spring, Worden hit 338 with 12 doubles, three home runs and 21 runs batted in while scoring 27 runs. He had a slugging percentage of .500 and an on base percentage of .405.
"I'm excited for Matt and for the UMass Dartmouth baseball program," said Corsair Head Coach Bob Prince. "Matt has the ability and the work ethic to do well, His hard work has paid off, and I'm sure he will have a good experience with the Bay Sox."
The Bay Sox are in second place in the NECBL's Eastern Division and play their home games at Paul Walsh Field at New Bedford High School.
