NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Senior Karney Boff (North Dighton, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth) was named the Little East Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Monday evening by the conference office.
In three appearances this past week, Boff limited his opponents to one run on four hits in eight and a third innings of work to post an 1.08 earned run average. The North Dighton, Mass. product allowed just three singles and a double to hold his opponents to a .133 batting average. On April 27, Boff earned his first save of the season at Eastern Connecticut, slamming the door on the Warriors over the final 3.2 innings of scoreless relief. The senior right-hander allowed two hits and two free passes, while recording five strikeouts. Boff pitched two clean innings of relief at Roger Williams, striking out a pair of Hawks.
Boff has made the transition from the starting rotation to the bullpen over his past six appearances, providing the Corsairs with a power-arm to shutdown opponents in the latter stages of the ballgame. In 11 appearances, Boff is 2-4 with a 5.20 earned run average in 36.1 innings of work.
UMass Dartmouth will return to action this afternoon at 3:30 p.m., when the Corsairs host Framingham State University.
