NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's baseball team will be looking for post-season success when they begin play in the Little East Conference tournament Wednesday evening. The third-seeded Corsairs will face fourth-seeded Keene State at 7:00 p.n. in a first round game at Eastern Connecticut State.
UMass Dartmouth is 15-21 overall. The Corsairs were 7-5 in the Little East, tied for second place, and lost a second-place tie-breaker with defending champion UMass Boston. Keene State is 27-12 overall, and 7-7 in LEC play. UMD split a doubleheader with the Owls at home April 9th, winning, 9-7, and losing, 2-0.
"If we play well, we'll be all right, we've beaten every team at the tournament," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Bob Curran. "I think that's something that only our team and Eastern Connecticut have done. We need to be able to get good performances from our starting pitchers, and go from there."
The winner of the first game will play the winner of the game between UMass Boston and Southern Maine, but the loser will play the winner of the opening game between ECSU and Rhode Island College.
"The first game is huge," said Curran. "If we win, we can stay out of the loser's bracket, which is always important."
