NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Freshman center Wale Abraham (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's basketball team has been honored by the Little East Conference.
Abraham has been named Little East Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week.
Abraham averaged 11.3 points and 10 rebounds per game last week, scoring in double figures in each of three games and helping lead the Corsairs to a win against Salem State. He scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds against SSU, while scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds Saturday at Western Connecticut. He blocked 15 shots in the three games, including seven Saturday, which matches the single-game high by a men's basketball player in the LEC this season.
"Wale has come miles and miles since the beginning of the season," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Brian Baptiste. "He's working hard, and it is starting to pay off for him and for the team."
The Corsairs will return to action when they visit Rhode island College Tuesday in the second game of a Little East Conference doubleheader.
