NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – University of Massachusetts Dartmouth freshman Tucker Bouchard (Kingston, Mass.) was named Little East Conference (LEC) men's basketball Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
Bouchard averaged 19 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game to power UMass Dartmouth to a 2-1 record this past week. The Kingston, Mass. native averaged 25 points and 6.5 boards per game against two Little East Conference opponents. Bouchard scored a career-high 30 points, including five 3-pointers, and pulled in eight rebounds in a conference setback against Eastern Connecticut. He poured in 20 points, collected five caroms, and handed out four assists as the Corsairs outlasted Keene State on Saturday afternoon. Earlier in the week, Bouchard hauled in a season-high 10 rebounds in UMass Dartmouth's win at Curry College.
The freshman guard has started in all 15 contests thus far for the Corsairs and is averaging a team-best 16.1 points per game on 46.9 percent shooting from the floor, including 26 for 60 from behind the arc (43.3 percent). He leads the team in total points (241), minutes played (500), assists (50) and steals (32).
UMass Dartmouth is back in action tonight at 6 p.m. as they travel to UMass Boston for a LEC matchup.
