Sean Floyd is entering his fourth year as a Corsair coach.
Floyd joined the staff as a student assistant coach for the 2007-08 season, and has continued to assume more responsibility in subsequent seasons.
In addition to his recruiting and coaching duties at UMass Dartmouth , Floyd also coaches and staffs camps and tournaments around Massachusetts. Floyd served as a head coach in the 2009 Bay State Game, taking an 11th and 12th grade boys team to a silver medal. Sean also coached in the 2009 Reebok "Proving Ground" camps ,the Reebok Headliner regional camp, the 2009 New England Adidas Phenom Camp and numerous Hoop Group events.
A native of Springfield, MA, Floyd earned first team All-Suburban League honors as a point guard at West Springfield High School before graduating from Springfield Commerce. He began his collegiate career as the backup point guard at Elms, but injuries forced him to give up playing. He transferred to UMass Dartmouth, and eventually joined the program.
Floyd, who earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from UMass Dartmouth and works for the Department of Children and Families, is involved in all aspects of the program, from recruiting to coaching on the floor to player development to scouting.
In addition to working at Head Coach Brian Baptiste's camp, Floyd has worked at the prestigious Five Star Basketball Camp in Pittsburgh, as well as at the Showcase for the top 75 freshmen and sophomores in New England at Boston University. His goal is to earn a full-time coaching position.
Currently the coach for the Nike Sponsored Expressions Elite AAU boys' basketball team, he has had the opportunity to coach numerous players who have earned scholarships to play basketball at NCAA Division I institutions, and he helped coach the 16 and under team to a 12th place national ranking during the summer of 2001.
