Brian Baptiste Inducted Into New England College BB Hall of Fame

KINGSTON, RI- University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's basketball Head Coach Brian Baptiste was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday night, October 9th.
The ceremony, which was held at the Mohegan Sun Casino, was put together by the Institute for International Sport.
In 26 seasons as head coach at UMD, Baptiste's teams are 504-214. Last season, the Corsairs completed an amazing two-year run that saw them post a 52-8 record. UMass Dartmouth won 27 games and tied the school record for victories in a season, finishing with a 27-4 record and advancing to the NCAA's Sweet 16 round for the fifth time during Baptiste's tenure. The Corsairs finished second in the Little East Conference during the regular season, and won the conference tournament, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. It marked the 17th time in 26 seasons that Baptiste's teams have qualified for post-season play. They have made 13 appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament, won 13 Little East Conference regular season championships, and captured 11 post-season playoff titles in the 21-year history of the conference. A 1976 graduate of American International, Baptiste enjoyed an outstanding playing career following his graduation from New Bedford High School. Earning recognition from his peers, Baptiste was formerly the chair of the Northeast Division III Men's Basketball Selection Committee, and now represents the LEC as a National Association of Basketball Coaches Congressman, while also serving as a member of the NABC's Marketing and Promotion Committee.
