Men's Basketball Ranked 11th in Poll

Dec. 1, 2009

MINNEAPOLIS, MN-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's basketball team is ranked 11th nationally in the first in-season men's basketball poll.

The Corsairs, who were ranked eighth in the pre-season poll, dropped three spots after winning three of their first four games. UMass Dartmouth was the top-ranked team in New England in the poll, and the only Little East Conference team ranked in the top 25. Brandeis, a UMD victim last Tuesday night, is ranked 23rd, while Bridgewater State, the Corsairs' opponent tomorrow evening, is rated 19th.

The Corsairs are 3-1 and will return to action when they host 19th-ranked Bridgewater State Wednesday evening, December 2nd. The Bears are 3-1 after defeating Rhode Island College last week and boast three local players in former New Bedford High School star Nathan Miller, Matt McLaughlin of Rochester, MA and Tabor Academy, and Fairhaven's Nick Motta, the reigning Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

"Bridgewater has three local players, and they are playing well," said Baptiste. "We should have a good crowd for our game tomorrow (Wednesday) night."
