2013 Homecoming Weekend Kicks Off This Friday
NORTH DATMOUTH, Mass. - The 2013 Homecoming Weekend will kick off with the 26th annual UMass Dartmouth Corsair Hall of Fame on Friday, September 27, 2013 with the Class of 2013 Induction Ceremony at the Tripp Athletic Center.
The 26th anniversary induction class includes three former student-athletes recently graduated from UMass Dartmouth plus a team and individual from one of its predecessor institutions, Southeastern Massachusetts University (SMU).
Joining the Corsair Hall of Fame in the Class of 2013 will be Mark Tallent (SMU '83 – ice hockey), Kelly (Kidd Bartucca (UMD '06 – diving), Kelly (Fitts) Ferreira (UMD '06 – track, soccer), Jonathan Garcia (UMD '08 – track) and the late Louise Goodrum (administrator). Former Coach Bruce Wheeler's 1988 SMU baseball team will be this year's inductee in the team category.
The Hall of Fame ceremony includes a social hour at 6:00 pm in the Corsair Hall of Fame located in the Tripp Athletic Center, followed by dinner and the induction ceremony in the Tripp Center' main gymnasium.
On Saturday, Sept 28 there is a variety of Corsair home athletic events. Women's Volleyball will be hosting a pair of games in the Tripp Athletic Center. At 11am the Corsairs will be taking on Little East foe Plymouth State and at 3 pm they will be facing Husson University in a non-conference match up.
Men's Soccer will be hosting UMass Boston in a Little East Conference contest that kicks off at 12 pm at Cressy Field. Women's Tennis will be playing a Little East Conference game against UMass Boston at 1pm at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex.
The last scheduled athletic event of the 2013 Homecoming Weekend starts at 4 pm on Cressy Field, as the Corsair football team takes on MASCAC opponent Plymouth State. The first 100 entrees to the game will receive a free UMass Dartmouth t-shirt and during the game there will be Buffalo Wild Wings and Domino's giveaways.
For alumni, there will be several activities on Saturday to enjoy. Throughout the day alumni athletic games will be taking place and an Alumni Tent will be set up from 12 pm to 4 pm outside the Tripp Athletic Center, featuring music, beverages, and food.
