Moving over from the offensive side of theball, Russo will coach the safeties this season. A native ofJohnston, RI, Russo played four years for the Corsairs as a runningback. He recently earned a master's degree in businessadministration from UMass Dartmouth. Russo scored four touchdownsin each of his final two seasons, carrying 84 times for 373 yardsand making nine receptions for 84 yards as a senior, scoring seventimes on the ground and twice through the air. As a junior, heranked third with 280 yards rushing, averaging 4.7 yards per carryand scoring twice. He also caught 10 passes for 99 yards and a pairof scores. In four seasons, he rushed for 849 yards and 10touchdowns, while catching 20 passes for 192 yards and four scores.After earning his bachelor's degree in accounting in 2009, Russoentered graduate school at the University of Rhode Island. "Coach(Robichaud) contacted me and said that the GA position was openhere," said Russo. "Instead of paying for graduate school, I camehere and got right on board." He went on to finish his graduatedegree at UMD. Russo was excited to join the coaching staff. "It'sgreat to be back," said Russo. "I still have a couple of friends onthe team, and it's nice to see how they've progressed. I missedcoaching, and I am excited to be involved again."
