NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-A member of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's football team has earned Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III North football post-season honors.
Senior linebacker John Cordasco (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls HS) was named a second team ECAC Division III North All-Star. He was one of 18 New England Football Conference players so honored. The NEFC had more players honored than any other conference.
Cordasco led the Corsairs with 96 tackles, including 46 solo stops. He had 11.5 tackles for 36 yards of lost yardage, shared a sack, had two pass interceptions that he returned for 73 yards, broke up two passes, forced two fumbles, recovered three fumbles and returned them for 61 yards, and tied for second in scoring. He scored four touchdowns on defense, returning two interceptions and two fumbles for scores.
"John has had an outstanding career here at UMass Dartmouth," said Corsair Head Coach Mark Robichaud. "He is the best defensive player I have coached here and is arguably the best defensive player in the history of our football program. In addition to his abilities on the football field, John is an outstanding young man and student. This is a tremendous honor for John and for UMass Dartmouth."
UMass Dartmouth finished the season 5-5 and 4-3 in the Boyd Division.
