Football's Edgar Osols is Honored Again

Oct. 7, 2011

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-For the second time this week, UMass Dartmouth junior kicker Edgar Osols (Summit, NJ/Summit HS) has received a conference honor.

Osols, who was named New England Football Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week earlier this week, has been named Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III North Special Teams Player of the Week.

Osols capped the game-winning drive when he drilled a 45-yard field goal with 21 seconds left to lift UMass Dartmouth to a 31-29 victory over MIT last Saturday. It was the second time in two seasons that Osols has kicked a 45-yard field goal to win a game. He also punted four times for a 33.5 yard average, with one punt being downed at the MIT one-yard line to help set up a touchdown. Osols also kicked off six times for a 55.8 yard average. "Edgar capped an incredible come from behind win on Saturday," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Mark Robichaud. "I never had any doubt that Edgar was going to make the kick even from 45 yards out; it would have been good from 55. He is an outstanding kicker, he does it all for us, he kicks off, kicks PAT's and field goals, punts and even plays free safety on our scout team. Edgar has worked very hard to become as good as he is."

.The Corsairs will take a 3-2 record (2-0 in Boyd Division play) into Saturday's game at Salve Regina.
