CRANSTON, R.I. -- Senior Brendan Kelleher (Hopedale, Mass.) shot the sixth lowest score, 76, on Day 1 of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship this afternoon at the Cranston Country Club to lead the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth to a fourth place result among the nine-team field.
The University of Southern Maine entered the clubhouse with the first round lead after recording a score of 303. Rhode Island College is just two strokes behind the Huskies, while host Johnson & Wales is third (306) followed by the Corsairs (310).
Sophomore Sean Griffith (Bourne, Mass.) is just one shot off Kelleher's pace, while senior Pete Danko (Norton, Mass.) carded a 78. Classmate Brandon Oldham (Mattapoisett, Mass.) turned in a score card of 79, while sophomore Colin Campbell (Marlborough, Mass.) rounded out the Corsairs' contingent with an 86.
UMass Dartmouth will compete in the final round of the conference championship tomorrow.
