BREWSTER, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's golf team finished in 27th place in the 79th Annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship at The Captains Course.
UMass Dartmouth jumped up two spots from day one with a score of 320 in the second round of play. For the tournament, the Corsairs tallied a team score of 652. Senior Peter Danko (Norton, Mass.) recorded UMass Dartmouth's best second round score with a 76 and finished the tournament in 46th on the individual leader board. Danko's classmates Brandon Oldham (Mattapoisett, Mass.) and Brendan Kelleher (Hopedale, Mass.) registered a 79 and 80 on the round two score card. Sophomore Sean Griffith (Bourne, Mass.) duplicated his day one performance with a score of 85, while classmate Colin Campbell (Marlborough, Mass.) recorded a 93, improving by 12 strokes from day one.
Central Connecticut State University were crowned NEIGA Champions with a score of 597. Blue Devils junior Monte Mullen (Manchester, Conn.) continued his dominance, earning him the best individual performance of the tournament. Mullen followed his two under par day one score (70) with a one over par n day two. The University of Rhode Island closed the gap, but fell short with a second place score of 600, while Bryant University finished with 611.
This wraps up a good season for the UMass Dartmouth men's golf team who will be saying goodbye to seniors Danko, Kelleher and Oldham.
