CRANSTON, R.I. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's golf team placed fourth within the 15-team field at the Johnson & Wales Spring Invitational at the Cranston Country Club.
Over the two days, the Corsairs compiled a team score of 634, edging out Suffolk University by one stroke. Rhode Island College finished one spot ahead of UMass Dartmouth with a score of 622, while Endicott College and Husson University tied for first with final scores of 618.
Senior Peter Danko (Norton, Mass.) led the Corsairs with an individual score of 154. After Day 1, Danko sat amongst the top of the individual standings with a 75 and he finished the tournament tied for fifth. Freshman Mike Byron (Bourne, Mass.) and senior Brendan Kelleher (Hopedale, Mass.) generated consistent performances throughout the invitational. Byron produced two rounds of 79, while Kelleher shot an 80 in both days. Senior Brandon Oldham (Mattapoisett, Mass.) and sophomore Sean Griffith (Bourne, Mass.) rounded out UMass Dartmouth with scores of 162 and 167.
