Corsair Golf Turns in 335 Score at Roger Williams Invitational

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. – UMass Dartmouth Golf returned to the course for a single-round event on Wednesday, collecting a seventh place finish with a score of 335 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Wednesday.
Score: 335 (+51 - 7th place)
How it Happened
The small event consisting of nine teams was held at the Montaup Country Club in Portsmouth, R.I., with sophomore Bryce Mitchell (Beverly, Mass.) pacing the Corsairs' efforts. Mitchell turned in a round of 82, tying for 24th overall in the field of 43.
Freshmen Jonathan Soule (North Easton, Mass.) and Nick Avilla (Westport, Mass.) sported the Corsair polo for the first time on their careers, both turning in the second-lowest performances for UMass Dartmouth on the day. Soule and Avilla posted rounds of 84 to tie for 28th.
Junior Ben Bedarian (Franklin, Mass.) shot a round of 85 as the third Corsair placer, tying for 31st in his first competition of the year, and senior Michael Byron (Bourne, Mass.) finished 36th with a score of 89.
Inside the Numbers
- The Montaup Country Club course sported a yardage of 6,403 with par of 71.
- Mitchell finished with the low score for the Corsairs for the first time on his career.
- Babson College was the team champion, shooting a cumulative score of 297 (+13), and Beaver David Choi tied for the individual title with Rhode Island College's Nick Patterson, as both shot even rounds of 71.
This weekend, UMass Dartmouth will travel to Maine for the Husson Invitational, hosted at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday.
