Host Corsairs Stand at Tenth After Day One

 

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Junior Tom Sheran (Marstons Mills, Mass.) submitted another strong performance for the second straight week as he paced the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth to a share for tenth place after day one of the 2018 Westport Hampton Inn Invitational at the Allendale Country Club on Friday.

How it Happened

Sheran currently stands at tied for 14th amongst the 98 student-athletes to compete, congregating from 18 different academic institutions. His score of 76 (+4) led the way for the Blue and Gold, just ahead of classmate Jackson Mitchell (Marion, Mass.) who posted a 78 after the first day. Mitchell is tied for 24th place within the current standings, maintaining the pre-meet seed of second for the squad.

UMass Dartmouth is tied with Endicott College, each recording scores of 320. The team is slightly ahead of Amherst College and Dean College, who share a 326 figure. The Corsairs and Gulls trail Johnson & Wales (RI) by just two strokes, as the Wildcats stand at 318. With the sixth- and tenth-place teams separated by just ten, UMass Dartmouth looks to surge within the table during day two.
