WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The UMass Dartmouth golf team opened its 2018-19 season over the weekend with a solid performance at the two-day Williams Fall Invitational that took place on the par-71 Taconic Golf Club, as the Corsairs finished tied for 11th with a team score of 638.
Senior Jackson Mitchell (Marion, Mass.) set the pace for UMass Dartmouth with a two-day score of 155 that featured a final round 74, as he finished tied for 28th individually in the competition. Junior Nick Avilla (Westport, Mass.) and freshman Curtis Merritt (Wareham, Mass.) followed in a tie for 51st place with two-day totals of 160, while freshman Jack MacDonald (New Bedford, Mass.) and senior Tom Sheran (Marstons Mills, Mass.) rounded out the Corsairs’ scoring with respective two-day scores of 167 and 168.
Host Williams took top team honors in the event with a score of 588, as Husson (605) and Trinity (607) finished in the respective runner-up and third place positions.
UMass Dartmouth returns to action on Saturday, October 6th when the Corsairs head to Gorham, Maine to participate in the two-day Southern Maine Invitational.
