CRANSTON, RI-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's golf team shot a team score of 311 for a 36-hole total of 638 and finished in fifth place in a 15-team field at the Wildcat Invitational at the Cranston Country Club, which concluded Sunday.
New York University finished first with a score of 607.
Sophomore Nick Jagoe (Westport, MA/Westport HS) shot a 76 for a 36-hole total of 154 and tied for seventh place. Sophomore Matt Connolly (Lynnfield, MA/Lynnfield HS) shot an 78 for 161, and freshman Conor O'Malley (Holliston, MA/Holliston HS) shot a 79 for 161, and both tied for 24th, junior Scott Woodacre (Westborough, MA/Westborough HS) shot a 78 for 162 and tied for 30th, and junior Matt Brown (Stoneham, MA/Stoneham HS) shot an 85 for 175 and tied for 59th.
"I challenged our team to really come out and perform today, and they answered the bell," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Joel Baptista. "This is our lowest score of the spring and one of our lowest scores of the entire season. Everyone stepped up today. Nick had a great round, Matt Connolly has been playing great out of the five spot and he shot less than 80 for the first time this spring. This proves that we can get it done, and it's something we can build on."
The Corsairs will return to action at Wentworth's Leopard Spring Open Monday, April 26th.
