The tournament was reduced to 18 holes after play was cancelled Saturday due to inclement weather.
For the Corsairs, junior Kevin Rewinski (West Springfield, MA/West Springfield HS) led the way with a score of 74, finishing four strokes out of first place and tying for fifth place. Senior Nick Jagoe (Westport, MA/Westport HS) came in at 78 and tied for 20th, senior George Gillmore (Cotuit, MA/ Barnstable HS/Fairfield) shot 79 and tied for 27th, sophomore Brendan Kelleher (Hopedale, MA/Hopedale HS) shot an 81 and tied for 40th, and junior John Coucci (Mattapoisett, MA /Old Rochester Regional HS) came in at 86 and tied for 61st.
“We wanted to improve on our performance at Middlebury, and we worked hard in practice for two weeks, and it showed on the golf course today,” said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Joel Baptista. “We showed remarkable improvement, and hopefully, it will give us some momentum going into next weekend. Team wise, we asked a couple of people to step up this weekend, and Kevin was one of them. So far, we’ve seen some good things from Kevin so far this fall. He has put up solid numbers in practice, he earned his spot, and he came through with flying colors.”
The Corsairs will return to action at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships next weekend.
