NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's golf team finished second and fourth in a six-team field at the UMass Dartmouth Fall Invitational Sunday at the par-72 Allendale Country Club.
The Corsair Blue team finished second with a team score of 327, while the UMass Dartmouth Gold team was fourth at 337.
Salem State finished first with a team score of 316, Worcester State was third at 331, Johnson & Wales was fifth at 338, and Wentworth was sixth at 418. Matt Sebet of Salem State was the medalist with a three over par 75.
Individually, for the Blue team, sophomore Matt Connolly (Lynnfield, MA/Lynnfield HS) shot a 78 and finished second, sophomore Brandon Oldham (Mattapoisett, MA/ORR HS/Allegheny/BCC) shot an 81 and finished seventh, junior Nick Jagoe (Westport, MA/Westport HS) shot an 82 and tied for eighth, freshman Billy Guilford (Halifax, MA/Silver Lake Regional HS) shot an 86 and finished 17th, and senior Scott Woodacre (Westborough, MA/Westborough HS) shot an 87 and tied for 18th. For the Gold team, junior George Gillmore (Cotuit, MA/Barnstable HS/Fairfield) shot an 82 and tied for eighth, sophomore Kevin Rewinski (West Springfield, MA/West Springfield HS) shot an 83 and tied for 12th, sophomore John Coucci (Mattapoisett, MA/Old Rochester Regional HS) shot an 84 and tied for 14th, freshman Brendan Kelleher (Hopedale, MA/Hopedale HS) shot an 88 and finished 22nd, and senior Matt Munden (Brockton, MA/Brockton HS) shot a 94 and finished 25th.
"Overall, I was disappointed," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Joel Baptista. "We need to play better on our home course, and we need to play better if we plan to be competitive at the New England Championships. Matt Connolly's play was a bright spot. He has been a model of consistency for us this year, and, hopefully, that will continue."
UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they visit the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Fall Invitational Monday and Tuesday. UMASS DARTMOUTH GOLF
