NEW BEDFORD, MA -Senior forward Mike Owens (South Boston, MA/Boston Jr. Bulldogs-AtJHL) has been honored by the Massachusetts Collegiate Athletic Conference. Owens has been named MASCAC Hockey Player of the Week.

Owens scored four goals last week, one against Framingham State in a 6-0 win, and the Corsairs' final three goals of the game in their 4-2 win against Westfield State Saturday in the quarter-final round of the playoffs. He scored with 30 seconds remaining in the second period, added a goal in the third period to make it 3-0, and then scored into an empty net with 16 seconds left to clinch the decision.

"Mike Owens has been the top forward on our team and in the MASCAC all season long," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. "His 23 goals in 26 games out him tied for second in NCAA Division III scoring, and his hat trick in the playoff win against Westfield says volumes about who he is and his value to our team."

UMass Dartmouth will visit second-seeded Salem State in the MASCAC semi-finals Tuesday night.
