Ryan Williams Earns MASCAC Weekly Goaltending Honors

NEW BEDFORD, MA – Senior goaltender Ryan Williams (Milton, ON/Huntsville Otters-OPJHL) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's hockey team has been honored by the Massachusetts Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Williams has been named MASCAC Goaltender of the Week.

Williams was honored for his performance last week. He stopped 39 of 40 shots in a 2-1 win at Westfield State last Thursday. WSU, which outshot the Corsairs, 40-24, suffered their' first conference loss of the season in that game. Saturday, he made 26 saves and blanked Fitchburg State, 4-0, for his first shutout of the season. In two games, he stopped 65 of 66 shots, compiled a 0.50 goals against average and a save percentage of .985.

"Ryan was phenomenal in the net for us, backstopping us to two key conference wins," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. "In the game at Westfield, he was called upon to make 39 saves, and Westfield had a two-man advantage in the final three minutes, and then had an extra skater when they pulled their goaltender. Against Fitchburg State, he was very workmanlike in his approach. Ryan is on top of his game right now."

The Corsairs will return to action when they host Plymouth State Thursday evening.
