Antipin Earns 1st Point In Professional Debut

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers took home a win Sunday with a 5-4 victory over the Adirondack Phantoms Sunday evening. Jeremy Langlois and Andrew Clark each picked up two goals and one assist, as Scooter Vaughan chipped in a goal of his own, as well. Kevin Poulin stopped 24 shots to earn his first win this season as a member of the Sound Tigers.

Vaughan opened the scoring at 7:49 of the first period with his sixth goal of the season. Dimitry Antipin, who made his pro debut in the contest, worked the puck free behind the Phantoms net to Chris Langkow. Langkow found Vaughan out in front, who gave the Sound Tigers a 1-0 lead. Later in the first, Langlois scored his first of the game on the power play, when he took a cross-ice feed from Alan Quine and blasted it past Phantoms goaltender Yann Danis.

Clark made it a 3-0 game early in the second period after Jake Newton won the puck along the right-wing boards. He spotted Clark on the doorstep and sent it in front, where Clark was waiting for the tap-in goal and his sixth of the season.

Shortly afterwards, Adirondack answered back with two power-play goals scored 1:23 apart to draw within a goal. First it was Brandon Alderson, who found the rebound on a shot from Kyle Flanagan and backhanded it past Poulin. Nine seconds following a penalty to Joe Finley, the Phantoms scored again. This time, it came on a deflection by Derek Whitmore as Mark Alt blasted a shot from the point.

Clark had a response of his own just 20 seconds, later, however, and took a feed from Langlois and beat Danis for his second of the night. That made it a 4-2 Sound Tigers lead, but Nick Cousins beat Poulin 2:13 later to cut the lead to a goal once again.

The Sound Tigers took their 4-3 lead into the third period, but Langlois struck again at the 4:14 mark to extend the lead to two. Whitmore scored his second goal of the night at 12:50 of the third, but the Sound Tigers shut the door and never relinquished their lead.

The Sound Tigers win snapped a six-game losing streak. The Sound Tigers return to action Wednesday night when they travel to Hartford to face the Wolf Pack. They'll host the St. John's IceCaps Saturday at 7 p.m. and the Portland Pirates Sunday at 3 p.m.
