NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's hockey team will have a new leader this year. Senior forward Joe Hill (Newburyport, MA/Valley Junior Warriors-EJHL) will serve as team captain for the 2010-2011 season.
Hill led the Corsairs in scoring last year with nine goals and 21 assists for 30 points, and has 29 goals and 50 assists for 79 points i 67 career games at UMass Dartmouth. A 2007-2008 member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team, Hill scored the winning goal against Nichols with 16.9 seconds remaining in the ECAC Championship game.
"At the end of last season, Joe was overwhelmingly selected by his teammates to be this year's captain," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. "He is a quiet, but very effective leader of this year's team."
"It's definitely an honor, I'm taking it seriously, and hopefully, I can lead by example this year," said Hill. "I'm kind of a quiet guy, but on the ice, I want to play hard every shift, have a team-first attitude, and show the younger guys how UMD hockey players act on and off the ice without actually saying it."
The Corsairs will open their 2010-2011 season when they host Becker Thursday, November 11th.
