BUZZARDS BAY, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's hockey team has been picked to finish second in the Massachusetts State Athletic Conference pre-season hockey poll.
The Corsairs received two first place votes and 42 points. Salem State was picked to finish first, receiving four first place votes and 46 points. Westfield State received the other first place vote and was third with 32 points, Fitchburg State was fourth with 30 points, Plymouth State fifth with 24 points, Worcester State was sixth with 14 points, and Framingham State was seventh with eight points.
"We look forward with great anticipation to the upcoming MASCAC season," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. "Playing each league member three times will enhance some great existing rivalries between UMass Dartmouth and other members, and it will aid in developing a strong rivalry with the top pick, Salem State. While we continue to be ranked nationally in the USCHO.com pre-season poll, we look forward to challenging the top seed, Salem State, and the other members of the MASCAC for our first-ever MASCAC championship."
UMass Dartmouth, will open the season when they visit Becker on Wednesday, November 11th. The home opener is Saturday, November 14th against Suffolk.
