Nov. 5, 2010

BUZZARDS BAY, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's hockey team has been picked to finish fifth in the 2010-11 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference pre-season poll.

The Corsairs received 24 points in the voting, four points behind Westfield State and 10 points ahead of Worcester State. Salem State was picked to finish first with six first place votes and 48 points, followed by Fitchburg State with the other first place vote and 42 points, and Plymouth State with 32 points. Framingham State was picked to finish seventh with eight points.

"Based on the number of returning veteran players, any one of the top four teams could end up anywhere from first to fourth," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. "We are coming off a difficult season a year ago, and we are looking to move up into the top four."

The Corsairs will open their 2010-2011 season when they host Becker Thursday, November 11th.
