MINNEAPOLIS, MN-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's hockey team has received votes in the annual pre-season United States College Hockey Online Division III poll.
The Corsairs received two votes and are listed among the teams also receiving votes in the poll. They are tied for 25th in terms of votes.
Plattsburgh State is ranked first, and defending champion Neumann is ranked second. Babson, which faces the Corsairs at the Stephan Hetland Memorial Ice Arena on Tuesday, November 24th, received five votes and is tied for 21st. The Corsairs advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs three years in a row before seeing their streak end when they were upset by Fitchburg State in a first round Eastern College Athletic Conference Northeast playoff game last season.
"Having been one of only eleven teams to play in the NCAA Division III tournament in three of the last four years, I am pleased our program is still nationally recognized as we begin play in a new league this season," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli.
UMass Dartmouth, which moved to the Massachusetts State Athletic Conference from the ECAC Northeast this year, will open the season when they visit Becker on Wednesday. The home opener is Saturday against Suffolk.
