Nick Thayer is LEC Goalkeeper of the Week

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-UMass Dartmouth sophomore goalkeeper Nick Thayer (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford HS) has been honored by the Little East Conference.

Thayer has been named LEC Goalkeeper of the Week. It's the second time this season that Thayer has been so honored.

Thayer allowed only a single goal while making 12 saves in Saturday's 9-1 LEC victory against Western Connecticut State. He also collected three ground balls, and posted a 1.00 goals-against average and a .save percentage of .923 for the week.

"Nick Thayer is playing extremely well," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Kevin Mahoney. "He is doing a great job in all facets of the game; stopping ability, clearing and controlling the defense. Nick is truly a leader out there in between the pipes, is one of those lead by example types, and is one of our hardest workers. He truly is a student-athlete; he works as hard in the classroom. It is great to see Nick enjoying all of the fruits of his labor."

The Corsairs will take a 5-1 record into their game at Nichols Thursday evening.
