KEENE, NH – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's lacrosse team dropped its Little East Conference game to host Keene State, 13-1, at the Owl Sports Complex on Sunday.
UMass Dartmouth was limited to a goal by sophomore midfielder Riley Baxter (Groton, MA/Groton-Dunstable HS) at 1:05 of the first quarter that cut Keene State's lead to 3-1. The Owls scored twice more in the first half, and then outscored UMass Dartmouth in the second half, 8-0.
J.T. Galloway had four goals for Keene State, while Kevin Carey and Tyler McKelvie each scored three.
The Owls outshot the Corsairs, 39-16. Junior goalkeeper Nick Thayer (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford HS) made 15 saves for UMass Dartmouth, while Alex Sharp made five stops for KSC.
"We didn't play well at all," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Kevin Mahoney. "We had a lot of unforced errors, we missed some opportunities in the first half, and it was 5-1 where it could have been 3-3. We faced adversity, and we were not able to overcome it."
UMass Dartmouth dropped to 8-4 and 2-3 in the Little East Conference with the defeat, while Keene State improved to 11-2 and 5-0 in the LEC with the victory. The Corsairs will return to action when they host Salem State Tuesday evening. The Owls will host Plymouth State Wednesday.
