In his eight season as head men's lacrosse coach, Kevin Mahoney's Corsairs enjoyed their finest hour last spring.

Mahoney's team went 13-4, was 5-2 in Little East Conference play, tied for second place overall and earned the second seed in the LEC Tournament after defeating conference power Eastern Connecticut State for the first time ever.

It marked the second time Mahoney's team reached double digits in wins since hetook over as the head coach prior to the 2004 season. In his five seasons as head coach, Mahoney's teams have compiled a record of 57-67, and their 2010 team set the record for the most wins in a season at UMD.As a result, Mahoney was named LEC Coach of the Year for the second timsin his career.

In his first season as head coach, Mahoney was named the Little East Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Corsairs to a 7-7 overall record and a 5-1 mark in the LEC. The Corsairs placed second in the LEC before losing in the tournament semi-finals. UMass Dartmouth also earned an invitation to the 2004 ECAC New England Division III Tournament.

A 1999 graduate of UMass Dartmouth, Mahoney was a standout player for the Corsairs in both men's lacrosse and football. Prior to succeeding Jeff Feroce' as head coach, Mahoney served as Feroce's assistant for two seasons.

In addition to his work as an assistant at UMass Dartmouth, Mahoney had served as head men's lacrosse coach at Bishop Connolly High Schoolin Fall River in 2001 after a season as a volunteer men's and women's assistant lacrosse coach at Dartmouth High School. Mahoney was an assistant football coach for UMass Dartmouth during the 2002 season before taking a similar position at Seekonk High School.

As a student-athlete at UMass Dartmouth, Mahoney played football for the Corsairs from 1996 through 1999 and was selected as a team captain during his final season. He was a New England Football Conference First-Team offensive lineman in 1998 and a Second Team selection in 1999. He also played two years with the Corsairs' men's lacrosse team.

Mahoney currently teachessocial studies at Diman Regional Vocational and Technical High School. Originally from Dix Hills, NY, Mahoney played lacrosse and football at Half Hollow Hills West High School.
