NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Two members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's lacrosse team have been honored by the Little East Conference.
Junior attacker Nick Brett (Loudon, NH/Merrimack Valley HS/AIC) has been named LEC Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman attacker Adam Niden (Walpole, MA/Walpole HS) has been named LEC Rookie of the Week.
Brett led the Corsairs with nine goals and four assists last week as UMD defeated Clark and Plymouth State. He scored twice in the fourth quarter against the Panthers to break a 10-10 tie and help lift UMass Dartmouth to the LEC win. He scored five goals and had two assists against Clark, and scored four times and added two assists against PSU.
Niden scored nine goals and added three assists for 12 points last week. He scored the final goal to cap a late three-goal rally in Saturday's win against Plymouth State. Niden scored five goals and added one assist against the Cougars, and had four goals and two assists against PSU.
"Nick is doing a great job being physical and taking it to the cage," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Kevin Mahoney. "Adam is getting better each time out, and is a threat every time he touches the ball. Both Nick and Adam are doing a great job passing and getting assists as well as scoring. They're both playing very well, and they have helped us be successful this season."
The Corsairs will return to action when they visit Roger Williams Thursday.
