Two Earn LEC Men's Soccer Honors

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA--Two members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's soccer team have been honored by the Little East Conference.

Junior defender Jonathan DaCosta (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) has been named Little East Conference Defensive Player of the Week, while freshman forward Aelaf Solomon (Framingham, MA/Framingham HS) was named Little East Conference Rookie of the Week.

DaCosta helped lead the defense as UMass Dartmouth shut out their only opponent last week, Daniel Webster, holding the Eagles to a single shot. He also scored the Corsairs' second goal, converting a penalty kick. Solomon scored the game-winning goal against DWC and also added an assist.

"It's nice to see Jonathan and Alief recognized," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Henry Almeida. "Jonathan had a great year for us last year, and he's well on his way to having another good season. It speaks well for his leadership ability and his work ethic. "Alief played really well at our season-opening tournament at Southern Maine, and had another good performance on Saturday. He has a bright future here."

The Corsairs are 3-0 and will visit Salem State Wednesday night.
