BEVERLY, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's soccer team could not find the back of the net as they fell 1-0 to Endicott College at Endicott Stadium Tuesday evening.
A conversion on a free kick from 10 yards out, in the 36th minute was all it took for Endicott (6-5-0) to get the victory. The Gull's midfielder Abdulla Al khalifa (Riffa, Bahrain) converted on the free kick opportunity, registering his second goal of the season.
Throughout the match, UMass Dartmouth (5-3-0) had opportunities to tie the game. The Corsairs had six corner kicks to Endicott's one and even outshot the Gulls 18-14. UMass Dartmouth leading goal scorer Victor Ferreira (St. Michael, Portugal) had three shots on goal, but failed to sneak any by Endicott's keeper. Sophomore Austin Peluso (Farmington, Conn.) recorded eight saves and a clean sheet in the Gull's win.
The Corsairs return to Little East competition, when they host Southern Maine Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
