DANBURY, Conn. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's soccer team dropped a Little East Conference matchup with Western Connecticut, as three second-half goals from the Colonials downed the Corsairs by a 4-0 final score.

How it Happened
After the game opened scoreless for the first twenty minutes, the Colonials broke the tie as Shane Bierfeldt (Torrington, Conn.) took a feed from Shane Pugliese (Plainville, Conn.) in front of the net, finishing with his left foot to give his team the 1-0 lead.
In the 57th minute, the Colonials doubled their lead when Chauncey Allers (Wilton, Conn.) lofted a shot from 15-yards out to put in his team-leading fifth goal of the season. Moments later, freshman Mikey Sciortino (Shelton, Conn.) scored his first collegiate goal, crashing after a deflected shot and returning it on net for the 3-0 lead.
The Colonials padded their lead in the 70th minute as Sciortino took a cross from Max Cano (Stratford, Conn.) before rocketing a shot to the back of the net, giving us the 4-0 final score.
Inside the Numbers
- Western Connecticut led the shot total, 17-9
- Senior Haden Corderio (Dartmouth, Mass.) finished with a team-high three shots while Junior Monteiro (Praia, Cape Verde) and Tony Gonzalez (Medellin, Columbia) footed two apiece.
- Sophomore Danny Andrade (New Bedford, Mass.) logged a complete-game in net, coming up with four saves on eight shots.
- Western Connecticut held a 4-0 lead in corner kicks and has now won back-to-back meetings with the Corsairs, upping the all-time series history to 11-14-3.
UMass Dartmouth returns to Cressy Field on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. matchup against Mass. Maritime.
