DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Sophomore Kevin Roberts (Medway, Mass.) netted a pair of goals, while senior Kessy Alves (Praia, Cape Verde) added a marker and two assists to lead Bridgewater State to a 4-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over UMass Dartmouth Tuesday evening at Cressy Field.
Junior Joseph Cruise (Brockton, Mass.) provided the visiting Bears (8-6) with the only tally they would need in the 13th minute on a feed from Alves, who extended that margin to 2-0 in the 75th minute with an unassisted marker. Roberts tacked on a pair of goals in the 77th and 83rd minutes of play to close out Bridgewater State’s scoring and account for the final margin, as Alves set up his first tally to finish with a four-point performance.
Junior Nate Morgado (Dartmouth, Mass.) made seven saves to pick up the shutout triumph in net for Bridgewater State, while freshman Chris Moussavi (Bellmore, N.Y.) also made seven stops in suffering the setback in goal for the host Corsairs (1-10-3). The Bears outshot UMass Dartmouth by a 16-15 margin overall (11-7 on goal), while the hosts held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks for the contest.
UMass Dartmouth heads to Danbury, Conn. to square off with Western Connecticut in a Little East Conference outing on Saturday afternoon beginning at 2:00 pm, while Bridgewater State travels to Buzzards Bay, Mass. on Friday evening to take on Massachusetts Maritime in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference clash that begins at 7:00 pm.
