DANBURY, CT-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's soccer team and host Western Connecticut State played a 1-1 tie in their Little East Conference match at the Westside Athletic Complex Saturday night.

Sophomore forward Victor Ferreira (St. Michael, Portugal/New Bedford HS) scored for the Corsairs to tie the game just before halftime. Ferreira took a pass from freshman forward Elton Borges (Praia, Cape Verde, Burke HS) and fired home a shot from 10 yards out with 4:55 remaining in the first half.

Chris Jeffrey had given the Colonials a 1-0 when Mike Sullivan's free kick deflected in after hitting him in the 37th minute.

UMass Dartmouth out shot Western Connecticut, 15-12. Junior goalkeeper Mike Phelan (Carver, MA/Carver HS) made six saves for UMD, while Jack Holub made four for WCSU.

UMass Dartmouth is now 5-1-1 and 1-0-1 in the Little East Conference, while Western Connecticut is now 1-5-1 and 0-1-1. The Corsairs will return to action when they host Connecticut College Tuesday.
