NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Once again, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's soccer team has been picked fourth in the annual Little East Conference pre-season poll.
The Corsairs received 42 points, 10 points behind third-place Rhode Island College and 14 in back of Eastern Connecticut State, which was picked to finish first. Keene State was picked to finish second, one point behind the Warriors.
Plymouth State was picked to finish fifth; UMass Boston was picked sixth, Southern Maine seventh and Western Connecticut State eighth.
"You never know how things are going to go, there is so much fluctuation with everyone's roster from year to year," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Henry Almeida. "I figured that the poll would go the way it did, with Eastern returning most of their starter. Overall, I think it's a fair assessment. We are bringing in 14 new players so we have a lot of new faces, and we're going to have the time to figure out an identity. We're in a good position with several key starters returning, some transfers who are playmakers, and some good freshmen. We're looking forward to going to camp."
UMass Dartmouth finished 10-6-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the Little East Conference last year, advancing to the semi-finals of the LEC tournament. The Corsairs will begin their 2011 season September 1st when they visit Western New England.
