NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA- The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's soccer team has been picked seventh in the Little East Conference pre-season poll.

The Corsairs received 23 points, three points behind sixth-place Western Connecticut State and 11 ahead of eighth-place UMass Boston.

Eastern Connecticut State was picked first with three first-place votes and 57 points, Rhode Island College was listed next with two first-place votes and 55 points, Southern Maine was third with one first-place vote and 40 points, and Plymouth State was listed fourth with 38 points and one first-place vote. Keene State was predicted to finish fifth with 37 points, and WCSU got the other first-place vote.

"I feel that the pre-season poll went pretty much as expected," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Henry Almeida. "We have a lot of respect for our entire conference, but I was surprised to see us so low. We will continue to work hard, get better, and see if we can't earn a higher finish than predicted."

UMass Dartmouth finished 7-10-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the Little East Conference last year, tying for sixth in the conference. The Corsairs will begin their 2009 season September 5th at Salve Regina.
