NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's swimming team defeated Elms, while the men's meet ended in a tie in a dual meet at the Tripp Athletic Center Saturday.. The Corsair women won, 141-99, and the Corsair men and Blazers each wound up with 108 points.

Women's winners for UMD included the 200 yard medley relay team of junior Megan Brady (Peabody, MA/Peabody HS), junior Lindsay Days (Mattapoisett, MA/Bishop Stang HS), sophomore Abbey Prives (Wellesley, MA/Wellesley HS) and freshman Leslie Martin (Pittsfield, MA/Pittsfield HS) in 2:06.00. Sophomore Morgan Cooper (Sunderland, MA/Frontier Regional HS) took both the 200 yard freestyle in 2:03.83 and the 100 yard freestyle in 57.72 seconds. Freshman Brooke Garvey (Billerica, MA/Billerica HS) won both the one meter diving competition (163.43 points) and the three-meter competition (139.70 points). Junior Maggie Conlon (Methuen, MA/Methuen HS) won the 400 yard individual medley in 5:09.05, sophomore Katelyn Kidney (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical HS/Bryant) took the 100 yard butterfly in 1:05.52, and senior Kim Moore (Billerica, MA/Billerica HS) won the 500 yard freestyle in 5;46.83.

For the men, freshman Edward Olean (Seekonk, MA/Seekonk HS) won the 400 yard individual medley in 4:28.19 and the 500 yard freestyle in 5:08.95, sophomore Matt Lee (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford HS) took the 100 yard backstroke in 1:01.05, sophomore Christian Francia (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet HS) won the three meter diving with 285.67 points, sophomore Chris Brown (Burlington, MA/Burlington HS) won the one meter diving with 218.92 points, and the 200 yard medley relay team of senior Nick Poliseno (Brockton, MA/Brockton HS), sophomore Julian Jiminian (Springfield, MA/Renaissance HS), junior Josh Potcner (Holbrook, MA/Cardinal Spellman HS), and Giardini finished first in 1:58.57.

"I was very happy with our performances today," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Cathy Motta. "The men's meet ended in a tie, despite many swimmers not competing. We will now be off until January 3rd, when we will return to prepare for our annual training trip."

UMass Dartmouth's women are now 2-3, while the UMD men are 1-2-1. The Elms women are now 3-4, while the men are now 1-2-1.

The Corsairs will return to action when they visit Simmons January 17th, while the Blazers will host Bridgewater State January 11th.
