Sophomore Christian Francia
HEMPSTEAD, NY-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's swimming team finished ninth of 15 teams at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Winter Championships, which concluded Sunday at the Nassau County Aquatic Center.
The Corsairs finished with 335 points.
The men's 200 yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Eric Frohman (Woodbridge, CT/Amity HS), sophomore Matt Lee (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford HS), junior Kevin Janofsky (Brookfield, CT/Brookfield HS) and freshman Eddy Olean (Seekonk, MA/Seekonk HS) finished 12th in 1:36.06. The same team was 10th in the 400 yard freestyle relay in 3:34.54, and ninth in the 400 yard medley relay in 4:02.04.
Olean also finished 15th in the 200 freestyle in 1:52.62, 11th in the 500 freestyle in 5:02.02, and 25th in the 200 individual medley in 2:13.56. Lee was 19th in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.15, 18th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.68, and 23rd in the 50 freestyle in 23.16 seconds. Frohman was 18th in the 100 backstroke in 1:00.95 and 27th in the 100 butterfly in 59.64 seconds, Janofsky was 20th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.58 and 32nd in the 200 individual medley in 2:18.31, and senior Nick Poliseno (Brockton, MA/Brockton HS) was 46th in the 50 freestyle in 25.50 seconds.
In the one meter diving competition, sophomore Christian Francia (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet HS) was seventh with 333.65 points, sophomore Conor Szarek (Leominster, MA/Leominster HS) was ninth with 254.15 points, and sophomore Chris Brown (Burlington, MA/Burlington HS) was 10th with 209.25 points.
The Corsairs will return to action when they visit Regis Friday evening.
